Moscadaigua is a project we've embarked upon with a client in the San Luis Valley looking to create a family getaway. Our client found a carefully deconstructed 1880s rail depot from upstate New York, the Canandaigua Freight Depot, and shipped its kit of parts to Mosca, Colorado. We've re-imagined the structure by dividing the long, linear building into a living quarters, congregation area and indoor/outdoor movable sleeping quarters. Shipping containers slide out of the depot building into the courtyard, framing outdoor space for familiy gatherings. The shipping containers serve as sleeping quarters, where family members can "camp" outside in mild weather.
