Neoera has valued Saunders Construction as a collaborator in many projects, which is why we were ecstatic when they asked us to design their satellite office located in the heart of Historic Downtown Denver. This tenant finish project turns a typical corporate office space into a modern collaborative environment. Instead of hiding behind closed doors and private spaces, Neoera and the owners of Saunders Construction sought instead to highlight the process of building. Semi-private screens were designed to offer acoustic privacy to the users while expressing the high quality craft that Saunders Construction performs so well. Saunders Construction is ranked in the top 3 largest construction companies in Colorado and Wyoming. Their increasing body of work has afforded them the need for a satellite office in the heart of Denver to serve nearby clients. They acquired a 3,000 SF outdated garden level office space with dominant stone foundations, oppressing ceiling height and limited daylight infiltration. In an environment where collaboration, innovation and efficiency are top priorities, we developed a shared vision to create areas dedicated to customer networking, employee communication and wellness. To help the entire suite feel larger, we removed dropped acoustical ceilings to reveal the wood joists and decking from the floor above. We contrasted the pink hued stone foundation walls with cool finishes and warm wood to balance the space. To accentuate the craft and innovation that Saunders has embodied over the quarter of a century, we designed a wood and Plexiglas screen system to highlight the actual construction of the walls—engineered lumber framing, exposed conduit for electrical receptacles and exposed connectors.
